Lazo Cultural Newspaper
Lazo cultural was established
(conceived) in 2001 as a production of HispanoUSA, a group
dedicated to the impulse and development of Hispanics in the
USA since 1997, with the utilization of information and
publicity in print and online.
Thanks to the previous experience of
our collaborators in printed media in Mexico and the United
States, when HispanoUSA introduced Lazo Cultural in west
Michigan it became the pioneer of the Hispanic media being
printed and provided online , helping our advertisers reach
more customers.
In the early years Lazo Cultural was
focused mainly in presenting entertainment articles, little
by little we started including news, focused on themes that
concern the Hispanic community living abroad, and articles
about the development of their businesses here in the USA.
All of this, was accomplished by the intention of serving
the community in a more efficient manner.
Today Lazo Cultural is read by
Hispanics of all nationalities but is targeted mostly to the
Mexican community, which is 80% of the Hispanic community.
But we are not about information only
Lazo Cultural is also known by
its extensive community outreach and service.
-
We created the first Hispanic
fashion show in Michigan exhibiting the clothes,
jewelry, shoes, and make up from our own advertisers.
-
We also created Expo Cultural where
Hispanic businesses are able to showcase their products
and services.
-
We have presented a free legal
clinic with the help of the attorneys that advertise
with us.
-
We have assisted our advertisers
with their events, inaugurations, anniversaries, and
celebrations like, mother’s day, Día del niño (Mexican
day of the kids), Dia de muertos (Mexican day of the
death), Cinco de Mayo, and Dia del Grito (Mexican
independence day)
-
We have been media coordinators for
the Mexican Heritage Association
-
We have also worked with the West
Michigan Hispanic Center’s Festival
-
We have promoted and supported the
Mexican consulate with their mobile consulate program in
several cities of Michigan and Ohio, where thousands of
Mexicans were able to get their passports and consular
ID cards.
-
We have collaborated with the
Institute of the Mexicans Abroad to successfully provide
several programs like: Free text books, their
bi-national health week, and many more.
-
We have coordinated with many non
profit organizations to successfully promote their
events.
-
We have received many letters of
appreciation, diplomas and are the proud recipients of
the 2004 Entrepreneurial success Award from the Grand
Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.
In summary our overall philosophy
and ethic is that by helping our readers and advertisers
achieve their success, we will achieve ours.
