That idea is at the heart of Planeta Yeiii, a 24/7 online radio station created as a safe space where children can experience radio through music, entertainment, games, and learning. In an exclusive interview with Lazo Cultural, Marie Ferez shared that the project began after identifying an opportunity to create a space for positive messages aimed at both children and their families. In a world where young people are increasingly exposed to digital content, Planeta Yeiii seeks to incorporate technology in a healthy and creative way.

Planeta Yeiii is not presented simply as a children’s radio station, but as a place of companionship and connection. Through its programming, children are encouraged to imagine, play, participate, and feel heard. The goal is to give them a magical and safe place online where every song and message is carefully selected.

One of the project’s main characters is Marié Yeiii, the host who welcomes children and invites them to participate by sending in their messages. There is also Nova, an artificial intelligence that serves as a guide to help develop children’s imagination; Michelle, the kitten, who reminds listeners about the importance of loving and caring for all living things; and Captain Cosmo, the project’s producer and operator, who helps make the magic happen.

For the Planeta Yeiii team, creating an online radio station for children responds to a very real need in today’s world. They explained that in this “new digital world,” technology, instead of always bringing people closer together, has sometimes contributed to creating distance. They also believe some traditional values and positive habits are being lost, so part of their goal is to restore that sense of play, connection, and companionship.

“Children are not to blame. They want to play and be heard, and we are here for that, to accompany them on every adventure,” they shared.

That statement summarizes an essential part of the project: it is not simply about playing music, but about building a connection with children and their families.

The music played on the station is planned together with the creative team according to the theme of each program. Listeners can also submit song requests, as long as the music is not offensive and does not contain inappropriate language. In this way, children are able to participate while remaining within a carefully managed environment.

Stories and messages are also developed in collaboration with parents and children. The team considers what young listeners enjoy while also taking into account what families believe is appropriate. That communication is an important part of Planeta Yeiii’s identity because it allows the content to remain fun while also being responsible.

Among the values the project seeks to promote are respect, inclusion, family values, empathy, self-esteem, and love for nature and animals. These themes are incorporated naturally into the programming so children can receive positive messages while being entertained.

Although Planeta Yeiii is designed especially for children, the project also seeks to bring families together. As a 24/7 radio station, it creates opportunities for adults to feel like children again, enjoy the music, share moments with their kids, and reconnect with the creative side of themselves that can sometimes fade with time.

The response from the community has been very positive. According to the team, families appreciate having a safe, magical, and creative space available to them. One of the most meaningful experiences has been hearing children open up and talk about their day, something the Planeta Yeiii team sees as a sign of trust.

“The most beautiful thing is when they open their hearts to me and tell me how their day went. That means so much to me because of the trust they have in me,” they shared.

The team also values the enthusiasm children have shown for the project. Even though Planeta Yeiii began during the school vacation period, children would wake up excited to join the programming and share their positive energy.

Like any digital project, Planeta Yeiii has also faced challenges. One of them has been learning how to integrate technology as a tool without allowing it to replace the human purpose behind the project. Rather than rejecting technology, the team seeks to use it to fulfill its mission each day while continuing to learn about the technical and operational side of running an online radio station.

In that sense, Planeta Yeiii represents a modern concept: it uses digital tools, characters, music, and online participation while maintaining a deeply human mission. Its goal is to remind us that children need spaces where they can imagine, express themselves, learn, and feel supported.
